Services Offered at Northfield Retirement Community

Skilled Nursing Care - This service involves health evaluation and treatment of residents who are not in need of an acute care facility but who require nursing supervision on an inpatient basis. Health care given when residents desire skilled nursing or rehabilitation staff to manage, observe, and evaluate their care.  It includes nursing services performed by registered nurses (RN), licensed practical nurses (LPN), and nursing assistants


Rehabilitation - These services are aimed at enabling residents to reach and maintain their optimal physical, sensory, intellectual, psychological and social functional levels. Rehabilitation provides residents with the tools they need to attain independence for all of our residents living on the campus.  It includes Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapy


Spiritual Care - Recognizing the importance of religious beliefs to the aging, we provide fulltime spiritual care services to meet the spiritual needs of a resident and support our mission to residents, family members, and employees. NRC has both on-site Pastoral Care and a Parish Nurse at work in the community providing one-on-one and group services. All denominations and faiths are respected and supported at NRC.


Home Care - Looking for care options right in your own home? NRC has the answer! In home care provides support that allows adults to remain in their own homes. Whether it's medical care or opportunities for social programs, we have a program to meet your needs.
Class F and Class A Home Care Agency - Home care includes any of the following services when delivered in a place of residence to a person whose illness, disability, or physical condition creates a need for the service: nursing services, including the services of a home health aide, personal care services, physical therapy, speech therapy, respiratory therapy, occupational therapy, nutritional services, home management services (housekeeping, meal preparation, and shopping) medical social services, provision of medical supplies and equipment, medical services and health-related support services.


Memory Care - This service provides to those who may need memory care include individuals with dementia, Alzheimer’s and other related disorders, as well as those who need assistance with activities of daily living. The staff receives on-going specialized training in memory care to ensure the residents receive appropriate care for their specific needs.  This services offers care that fosters residents' individual skills and interests in an environment that helps to diminish confusion and agitation.


  Housing with Services - As a Housing With Services establishment  we provide sleeping accommodations to one or more adult residents, at least 80 percent of whom are seniors (55 years of age or older). We also offer or provide, for a fee, one or more regularly scheduled health-related services or two or more regularly scheduled supportive services, whether offered or provided directly by the establishment or by another entity arranged for by the establishment. Evergreen Suites, Cannon Valley Suites, Southview Suites, Northfield ParkView East and West are all registered with the State of Minnesota as these types of establishment.

Catered Services - Supportive care provided in the resident’s home or apartment by healthcare professionals.  These services are provided to individuals in an independent living environment.  Residents are able to pick from a menu of services both custodial and clinical. Catered Living Services offers comfortable apartments, community dining options, and an array of activities, plus just the right amount of support and care. Assistance with day-to-day activities and out-patient therapy services are available as needed on site.

Fitness - You can walk the trails of the campus and work out on the many stations of a new Life TrailTM system with access to the nearby campus of St. Olaf College. During the winter months organized groups of walkers use our hallways to get in there daily exercise.  Our up-to-date fitness room is complete with weight training machines, treadmill, exercise bicycle, NustepTM  recumbent bike.  Or try your hand at the electronic Nintendo WiiTM, complete with bowling, golf, tennis, and boxing.   We have a fitness professional on-hand to give you specific suggestions and instructions for keeping fit and active.

  Assisted Living - as defined by the National Center for   Assisted Living is a service that is "a congregate residential   setting that provides or coordinates personal services,   24- supervision and assistance (scheduled and unscheduled), activities, and health-related services." Clinical services are provided through our licensed Class F home care agency.
